HSE University and Central University Launch Double Degree Programmes
HSE University and the Central University announced the launch of two joint bachelor's and master's degree programmes in the field of information technology. This year, the first admission to the bachelor's programme ‘Design and Development of Information Products’ will open with the support of T-Bank, the programme’s industrial partner.
The first joint programme offers 50 places for students who will enrol in the Faculty of Computer Science at HSE University. The curriculum includes several courses on data engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure development from the Central University. All students will have access to a wide range of elective courses from both HSE and CU. Applicants will present their theses to a committee of professors from both institutions. Upon successful completion of the programme, students will receive two degrees: one in software engineering from HSE University, and another in mathematics and computer science from the Central University. This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience will allow specialists to participate in all stages of the information product development and maintenance.
The second joint programme offers 30 places for students enrolled in the bachelor's programme of the Central University in 2024. Selection will take place during the first semester of their second year. These students will have the opportunity to receive a double degree, which requires studying at least six courses of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and successfully passing four independent exams in data analysis, programming, digital literacy, and English language. They will also need to defend their theses before lecturers from both universities.
The double degree programme will also be available for master’s students of the Central University. Selection of 30 students will take place at the beginning of their first year among those enrolled in continuing education programmes. Participants will have to complete at least five courses at HSE University and defend their theses before a joint committee consisting of representatives from the Central University and HSE University.
Evgeny Sokolov, Head of the Big Data and Information Retrieval School, HSE University
We are delighted to be working closely with the Central University. This collaboration will allow students of both HSE Faculty of Computer Science and the Central University to take our best courses and work with teachers and researchers from both institutions. The Central University is a young university that is adopting a product-based approach to teaching and has assembled a talented team. I am sure that we can learn a lot from each other, and together we can make our country's education market even stronger and more diverse.
Evgeny Ivashkevich, Rector of the Central University
The double degree programmes with HSE University, which will start at the Central University in 2024, aim to be innovative and continuously develop, as well as open up new possibilities not only for students but for the university as well. The curriculum is designed in such a way that students can master courses led by renowned experts from both institutions. This initiative will enrich the market with in-demand specialists who possess unique knowledge and experience.
