Professional experience
40 years of experience in the financial sector. After graduating from the Moscow Finance Institute in 1985, he worked at the Research Financial Institute of the Ministry of Finance, and then in the USSR Ministry of Finance. Participated in the reforms of enterprises and their transition from individual profit distribution to taxation in the context of the transformation of the economy to market rails. Participated in the formation of the legal framework for small businesses, the securities market, the use of various business models in companies back in the Soviet economy. From 1991 to 1994, participated in the development of the legal and methodological framework in the field of mass privatization, in the creation of the Russian financial market. From 1994 to 1997, worked as an advisor to the head of the Federal Securities Commission of Russia, actively participated in the development of the Federal Law "On the Securities Market", "On Joint-Stock Companies", in the creation of a regulatory framework for professional participants in the securities market and collective investments. From 1997 to 2006 - work in business (NDC, RTS, ATON). Since 2006 - Professor at the Department of Stock Market and Investments at HSE, currently - Professor at the School of Finance at HSE. Since 2015 - Head of the Laboratory for Analysis of Institutions and Financial Markets at IPEI RANEPA. Research interests - efficiency of companies, assessment of the scale of the public sector of the economy, total factor productivity and problems of misallocation of resources, analysis of financial market patterns, activities of NPFs and asset management companies, brokers and other market participants. More than 60 scientific papers in leading Russian and foreign academic journals. Independent member of the Board of Directors of NAUFOR. Active publications in business media, own telegram channel "Financial Constructor" with discussion of key issues of theory and practice of the financial market.
Growth Strategies: How Corporations May Become Antifragile in Turbulent Times
On 7 November School of Finance of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of HSE University presented a multi-authored monograph Russian Corporations in New Economic Reality. Financial Strategies on the Way towards Antifragility written by a group of scholars and financial management practitioners and released by the HSE publishing house. The authors and business community representatives took part in the presentation and discussion of the research results.
Patterns of Russian Companies’ Resilience: Paths toward Antifragility
Resilience of Russian companies and their antifragility were discussed at the round table organized by the School of Finance of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of HSE University. The participants spoke about the opportunities for raising capital in the domestic market, companies’ resilience amid a crisis and the vision of companies’ top managers for the current situation.
