Education news at HSE University

HSE University, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, presented the results of a programme to monitor the quality of enrolment in state-funded and fee-based places at Russian universities in 2022. The study was carried out at the HSE Institute of Education under the supervision of Yaroslav Kuzminov, HSE University Academic Supervisor.

On January 30, the winners of the first stage of the City Improvement Competition were announced.One of the winners is Evgeny Shvirkov, a first-year student of the Bachelor’s in Public Administration at HSE University. Evgeny presented a project entitled ‘The Development and Improvement of the Availability of Healthcare as a Factor Improving the Quality of Russian Urban Life’. The competition was organised by VEB.RF and VK, and its academic partner was the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences.

The new online course 'Tell Me a Story: Storytelling for Russian Language Learners' has started on HSE's National Open Education Platform. The course author, Ksenia Demeneva, Associate Professor of the School of Literature and Intercultural Communication at the Faculty of Humanities at HSE University-Nizhny Novgorod, discusses how to capture your audience's attention and make you story unforgettable.

Getting a master's degree with honours in ‘Management in Technical Systems’ was not the end point of Evgenia Fadina’s educational trajectory. This first-year student on the HSE online master’s programme ‘Economic Analysis’ works in the project office of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Her digital master's degree will help her achieve career success in executive bodies, she believes.

By invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, HSE University Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin took part in the Russia-Turkmenistan business forum held on January 19–20 in Ashgabat. In the round table ‘Russia-Turkmenistan Cooperation in Education: Professional Development for the Economy’, he spoke about trends in online education in Russia using the example of HSE University.

Linguatest, Russia’s first foreign-language certification system, has been launched in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The system was developed by specialists from HSE University in cooperation with the National Accreditation Agency and the Prosveshchenie group of companies, who are providing certification and publishing support for the project. Nizhny Novgorod is the first city after Moscow to offer testing under the system.

In 2022, HSE University became an expert centre for universities across the Luhansk People’s Republic in analytical, methodical, and legal fields. This will facilitate the seamless introduction of the republic’s universities into the Russian academic environment. Irina Karelina, Vice President of HSE University, talked to the HSE News Service about why HSE University decided to enter this project and how it complies with the university’s development strategy.

HSE's School of Psychology is launching a new CPD programme ‘Plurilingual Intercultural Creative Keys’ (PICK). The programme was specially developed by the HSE Laboratory for Linguistic, Intercultural and Creative Competencies and is based on the innovative PICK training system designed to improve the skills of school teachers and tutors, as well as parents involved in teaching their children at home. The programme will be taught in Russian.
