The decision to create the laboratory was based on the results of an open competition organised by HSE University. The winner of the competition was the project ‘The role of non-coding RNA in facilitating active ageing’ led by Maxim Shkurnikov, Associate Professor of the HSE University Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.

The HSE Centre for Student Academic Development, in cooperation with the Student Development Office and Ingroup CTC, held a large-scale student science festival in December. On December 27, Andrey Maslov was appointed Director of the HSE Centre for African Studies. Students in the Transmedia Production in Digital Industries Master’s programme have done a project on the professions of the future. Covering trends and key professions, the project helps students assess potential academic trajectories. The main part of the project is a non-fiction book ‘What’s Next? Professions of the Future’, which is based on the ‘Androids and Electric Sheep’ podcast by Forbes and X5 Group. The book has been published on the Ridero platform.

A regular session of the HSE Academic Council considered the key aspects of university’s operations in 2022. In particular, the business plan for 2022 and the planning period of 2023 and 2024 was approved, the decision to rename the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design to the Faculty of Creative Industries was made, and the Regulations on Organization of Interim and Ongoing Assessment of Students were approved.

Evgeniy Terentev has been appointed Director of the HSE Institute of Education. HSE Life talked with the new head of the institute about his plans in the new position and about innovations in education.
